Description
About this item
Six masterfully painted and signed ‘piscatorial’ plates from Doulton Lambeth. Each plate has an underwater scene of a different (freshwater) fish bordered by a single gilded line around the inner ledge of the plate and broader garlanded gilt decoration on raised paste around the rim.
The condition of all the plates which measure 22 cm in diameter is excellent with very minimal wear to gilding decoration. Several of the plates have designer-made felt separators which have clearly helped to keep them in such good condition over the years. See photos for all details.
Backstamp narrows them down to between 1891 and 1902.
