About this item
An unusual Staffordshire spill vase featuring a girl with a zebra. In this world of myriad Staffordshire copies it’s a relief to know that this one has been appraised as 19th century and the real thing!
Zebras had inspired a huge amount of interest in Britain since their first appearance at Buckingham Palace in the late 18th century. Not surprisingly they soon cropped up in popular culture, including Staffordshire figurines, even in unlikely poses as domesticated animals.
Things to be aware of: both ears are broken, otherwise in good condition.
Height: 20 cm.
